Overview

The 18th century Red Lion hotel at Clovelly lies astride the 14th century harbour wall. Each of its 11 bedrooms enjoys either a spectacular sea or harbour view. The Sail Loft is a conversion of an old store adjacent to the Red Lion and all its six deluxe bedrooms have wonderful sea views. The effect is a perfect maritime experience.

An excellent place to have a meal, or just a drink. We were a large group, and went for lunch. We were pulled a few pints of the local ale by a cheerful chap who was smartly attired in a 3 piece suit - pleasantly it felt like good old fashioned customer service from a bygone age. As an ale lover, I have to say the ales were well-kept and a joy to drink. The food was also fantastic - there were nine of us and we had a range of dishes from the menu, with everyone very satisfied indeed. Strongly recommend a visit. Source - Google reviews

Clovelly is a special place, full of history and totally unique and unspoilt. The Red Lion just completes the stay with its location, beautiful rooms, delicious food and friendly staff. We were totally in love with the whole place as soon as we arrived. We ate in the Snug bar as well as the restaurant, the food was banging, as was the breakfast. I really can’t fault the place. All the staff were wonderful. Source - Trip Advisor

This is a lovely pub/Hotel. Beautiful location, great food and local cider and the staff were absolutely amazing. We had a lovely meal and were looked after by very friendly staff who kept us entertained. The location is so peaceful so sitting outside enjoying the views with a drink is wonderful. Incredible, relaxing beautiful break. Incredible, relaxing and beautiful. Clovelly is my wife’s favourite place on the planet so we decided to have a few nights instead of just flying in. The hotel and its staff are simply amazing. It would be unfair to single just one person out. Source - Trip Advisor

We stopped at the Red Lion in Clovelly on a long coastal walk. The location was beautiful, the food & drink amazing and the staff so friendly and helpful. One of the best pubs we've been to on our holiday. Would thoroughly recommend a visit if you're passing. Source - Google reviews
