Porthgwidden in Cornwall is one of the most stunning locations in the country. On the north side of the Porthgwidden peninsula, known as The Island, the views are breathtaking over the Atlantic Ocean and the water crystal clear greens and blues.

The sand here is exactly what you’d expect from the best beaches in the UK and being a sheltered cove style beach, there are plenty of rocks to sit on and places to sunbathe the day away.

A truly family friendly spot, the car park is a minutes walk away, along with facilities and somewhere to eat.

Still secluded from the main hustle and bustle of St Ives, the peninsula tucks this location neatly to the southern side with St Ives Harbour the next destination around to the west. The peninsula is part of the South West Coast Path and homes the National Coastwatch Institution and St Nicolas Church, both providing a spectacular vantage point for the surrounding coastline.

The full 360 degree vista presents an uninterrupted panorama of the area. These views lead all the way to Newquay and beyond on a clear day to the north, while the view to the south feels as though you can see Lands End.

A modern conjoined style of hut, these beach huts sit comfortably adjacent to the wonderful seaside cafe and bar.

Walk up over the peninsula , or follow the road around and you will land straight in the quaint and historic holiday destination that is St Ives. This popular vacation spot is absolutely stunning and definitely worth the visit!
