Overview

Cathedral Green is the best place to stay in the heart of Exeter, and it has private free parking just 6 minute's walk away. This romantic suite of five rooms, including a hallway, and a terrace within a vast apartment on the first floor of an antique mansion, is a unique experience in a desirable location. It has its own front door and, just inside, space to receive luggage, a seated entrance area with antique armchairs, a dresser, and artwork. Two steps lead to a flowering terrace outside the bedroom window and a table to enjoy morning tea/coffee in the sunshine until midday. The bedroom is en suite to a bright walk-in shower room, loo, wash basin, etc. Unlike in many boutique hotels, the window opens, and there is proper daylight and lighting for ladies to do their make-up. Two opposing mirrored floor-to-ceiling double wardrobes via the en suite bedroom create a dressing room area. Expect Bedlinen and towels from The White Company, Nespresso machine, undefloor heating and WiFi. Breakfast at The Ivy, just a few steps away, is included in the price.

Amazing location right in the heart of Exeter overlooking the cathedral. Delightful hosts and lovely welcome. A great alternative to a hotel.

Arrival information & directions

Address: Apartment One, 24 Cathedral Yard, Exeter, Devon, ExeterEX1 1HB, United Kingdom

By Train; The best  train  connection from London and the North is from Paddington in two hours to Exeter St Davids.

From Mon - Fri , just the 13.03  has recently re-introduced Silver Service cooked luncheon in the First class.

Plentiful taxis will bring you to Cathedral Green, up the steep hill, in five minutes

If leaving from South of the Thames you may prefer the slower service from Waterloo to Exeter Central just five minutes walk from Cathedral Green. Otherwise you can pick up trains to Exeter from other parts of the UK changing at  Bristol or Reading.

By Road:The M5 encircles Exeter on the way to Plymouth and Cornwall. and can be joined at Bristol from the M4 coming from the M25 London Ring Road - but the pleasantest and shortest drive from London's M25 Ring is via the M3 and just before Andover, joining the scenic A303 which pases Stonehenge but experiences frequent tail backs.

By Air:There  is a useful airport on the A303 just outside Exeter City connecting with  Edinburgh, Newcastle and Belfast.
