Overview

Hut 90 sits on the quieter end of Whitstable’s West Beach, a calm, friendly spot with wide sea views, open space, and front-row seats for some of the best sunsets on the coast. It’s just a short stroll to the West Beach Bar & Tearooms, Windy Corner Café and The Neptune Pub, for food and coffee, yet feels discreetly tucked away. Perfect for lazy seaside days, swims, kayaking, or watching the sun melt into the horizon with fish and chips or a slice of pizza.

Arrival information & directions

Address: First row, 90, Whitstable, Kent, Seasalter BeachUnited Kingdom

If travelling by car (parking on Joy Lane)

The easiest place to park is on Joy Lane, rather than anywhere in the centre of town, especially if it's busy. Find number 63 Joy Lane — it’s a large red brick house. To the left of the house, there’s a footpath. Walk down this path. Keep following it until it reaches a track, then turn right. You’ll soon reach a bridge over the railway line — cross this. Once you’re over the bridge, follow the path round until you see some concrete steps on your left. Go up the steps, and you’ll arrive at a promenade with beach huts either side. Walk along the front row (nearest the sea) — Hut 90 is eight huts along from the end.

If walking (from Whitstable town centre)

From the High Street, walk down any alleyway towards the sea. You’ll reach a road called Island Wall (past Middle Wall) Turn right onto Island Wall and keep walking until the road ends. At the end, you’ll see a caravan park with a café — keep walking straight as the road becomes a promenade between two rows of beach huts. Follow the huts along until you reach the far end. Hut 90 is on the front row (nearest the sea), eight huts from the end.
