Greek-inspired beach hut on West Mersea beach (under new ownership for 2026)

One of the picturesque pastel-coloured beach huts at West Mersea, Santorini Beach Hut is the perfect setting for fun family beach days, relaxing seaside escapes, and peaceful moments watching the tide roll in from your private decking area overlooking the beautiful Blackwater Estuary.

Perfect for quieter midweek escapes and relaxing coastal days.

Mersea Island sits where the Blackwater Estuary meets the North Sea and is well known for its famous oysters, scenic coastal walks, sailing, and water sports.  There is also an annual sailing regatta which brings a wonderful family-friendly atmosphere to the island in August.

West Mersea Holiday Park:

  • Sandbank Restaurant & Pub (dog friendly) is just behind the beach hut - seasonal opening
  • Children's outdoor play area
  • Toilets and showers

At the entrance to the holiday park:

  • Vivi's Gift shop which also sells newspapers, sweets, drinks and a selection of beach toys etc.
  • Seaview Beach Diner (indoor and outdoor seating)

Absolutely gorgeous beach hut, we had a lovely day, the weather was amazing and so is The Santorini Beach Hut! Right on the beach, beautifully decorated with everything you need for a fab day at the beach! The quality of the furniture and extras was extremely good, it is easily the nicest hut I’ve rented and will not hesitate to book it again with Beachhuts.com

We had a fabulous day at the Santorini beach hut, everything you could possibly need is provided. The location is perfect, great parking, toilets close by and a lovely bar/shops a stones throw away. cant wait to go back. Lots of luxury touches too which were unexpected but gratefully received.

Absolutely stunning beach hut - would 100% recommend – fully stocked with everything you need for a beach day! The owner Jenny was exceptionally helpful and kindly organised some lovely brownies for our arrival as well! If you’re thinking of booking this one DO IT!

BEAUTIFUL HUT.. The hut was clean and well equipped with everything you needed. Plenty of comfy chairs to choose from as well as some children’s toys. We all had a great time despite the weather (the wind breaker was excellent) ! 100% recommended.

The beach hut was extremely well stocked, instructions were really clear and detailed. The Santorini wall is beautiful and added a lovely touch. Our daughter loved playing with the buckets and spades! Will definitely rebook in the future

Facilities information

The beach hut accommodates a maximum of 8 occupants at any one time, both inside the hut and the decking area combined, including adults, children, babies and up to 2 well-behaved dogs (if you wish to bring more than 2 dogs, please enquire). This occupancy limit is a condition of the beach hut licence and must be strictly adhered to. 

Inside the hut you’ll find two windbreaks, a parasol, crockery, cutlery, kettle, small gas stove, tea towels, throws, dog bowl and treats, along with complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Outside the hut  is a private, gated, decking area.

Free parking for one car is available directly behind the beach hut.

Toilets are available at The Sandbank Pub & Restaurant which is just behind the beach hut, with additional toilets and showers located on the holiday park nearby.

A freshwater tap is available just a few huts along.

The beach is dog-friendly all year round.

Arrival information & directions

Car:  Sat Nav - West Mersea Holiday Park, Colchester CO5 8DA 

You will need to temporarily park in the Sales Office car park, which is just before the security barrier, then walk to the Beach Hut to collect the keys/security barrier fob from the key box located at the back of the hut. Using the barrier fob you can then park one car directly behind the beach hut (you do not need the fob to exit).  Please do not park behind any other beach huts.

If you have more than one car, you can park in Seaview Car Park, close to the entrance of the holiday park, which has parking for Blue Badge Holders.

Train:  Colchester Town Station or Colchester Station.  A taxi from Colchester train station takes approximately 20-30 minutes to West Mersea Holiday Park.

Bus:  The closest bus stop is near Seaview Avenue - walk down Seaview Avenue (towards the beach at the bottom of the road) and West Mersea Holiday Park is at the bottom on the left.
