Overview

Wilma Beach Hut is quirky and fun. It is positioned at the end of the front row, giving you extra space to the side as well as in front of the beach hut and on the promenade. There are 7 steps leading up to Wilma so please be aware of this when booking. There is room for 2 chairs in front of the beach hut - a few chairs to the side and a party of 8 guests can sit at the bottom of the steps on the promenade. This is where most guests base themselves.

Please note; Tendring Council has introduced strict rules for 2024 regarding the number of guests in each hut. If these numbers are exceeded, the licence can be taken away. Please do not exceed 8 guests (this includes children). Thank you for understanding!

We spent a lovely day with Wilma! Very well equipped, easy to use gas stove and water on tap about 2metres away! Fabulous front row views which made it worth the extra money. Great communication and information from the owner and we would definitely recommend and come back for a return visit!

What a lovely day had by all - the beach hut was beautifully situated near to beach with a hard standing to the side which we utilised , all equipment was well Maintained throughout and very handy that there was a tap directly outside . The hut itself was lovely

Beach hut is ideally located along the sea front. Close to amenities such as toilets, food kiosk and water tap. The owner has decorated this well and included the basics anyone would need when hiring the hut for the day.

Beautifully kept beach hut in a prime location. Such a fabulous base for the day. Thank you again for the wonderful hospitality. This is our second booking with Diary of a beach hut and will certainly not be our last.

Facilities information

What's provided: Tea bags, coffee and sugar. Mugs and cups. Tumblers and wine glasses. Plates and bowls.Cutlery. Gas stove and kettle. Washing up bowl with fairy liquid. Buckets and spades. Water Carrier to fill from the tap (can be found next to Wilma). Sunchairs for you and your guests. 2 x small tables. Parasol and water base.

What you will need to bring: tea towels, dish cloth or sponge, bin bags and milk for tea and coffee. You may want to bring a blanket if it’s chilly. There are limited large bowls/containers to serve food so you may want to bring your own. Toilet roll!!! Please bring your own toilet paper as it has been know for it to run out at the public toilets along the promenade and next to the pier.

Remember your beach towels and suntan lotion! It gets deceptively hot along the prom, even with the sea breeze! Trust me, you don't want to get caught out and go home pink!

You are welcome to bring 1-2 small, well behaved dogs to Wilma. Please be respectful and don’t allow wet dogs to sit on the seating.

Smoking is NOT permitted in or outside the beach huts or on the decking area.

The use of barbeques in or around the beach huts is NOT allowed. The beach huts are wooden and are flammable.

Please only use the gas stove for heating water for tea and coffee. Do not use to cook food as this is not permitted. The beach huts are wooden and are flammable.

Arrival information & directions

Address: Front Row, 96A Southcliffe Promenade Walton on the Naze CO14 8DH, Walton on the Naze, Essex, SouthcliffUnited Kingdom

The beach huts are accessible from 9.00am – 10.30am (arrivals outside of these times may be available on request - 48 hours prior to booking). If you have booked consecutive days you can stay until 8.00pm – apart from your last day which will be 6.00pm

Parking: There are two car parks about 8 minutes from the beach huts (The Station Car Park, Walton on the Naze CO14 8LZ and Church Road Car Park 5 Agar Road, Walton on the Naze CO14 8DJ). You can also park along the residential streets nearby.

Finding Wilma: When you come out of the car park – walk towards the sea and you’ll see a sign saying ‘The Beach’. Turn down this road and then turn into Southcliff. As you walk, you’ll see a green metal fence/railing. At the end of the fence/railing you’ll see some steps. Walk down the steps and you’ll get to the promenade. Turn Right, walk all the way along the promenade, past May’s Café. Keep going. Wilma is half-way along the promenade. She is No. 96A.

An alternative way is when you reach the green metal fence/railing – turn right where it says ‘No Parking’. It’s a gravel road. Walk down this road. You will eventually see a tarmac walkway. Walk along this. You’ll eventually see a slope to the left. Turn left down the slope. This will take you down to the beach huts right by Wilma. The only steps going this way are just before walking down to the promenade. Once on the prom, turn right and you will be right outside Wilma.

If you have mobility problems, you may prefer to get dropped off by the pier. You can then walk along the promenade (8mins) until you get about half-way along to Wilma. This route avoids the steps leading down to the promenade from the street above. It is completely flat.
