Located on the promenade of popular Bournemouth West Beach. The hut is just 100 paces from the
bottom of Westcliff Zig-zag or 5 mins easy walk from Durley Chine car park where there is also the
Beach Office, toilets, Harvester pub and restaurant, and Chineside Café Bar.
There are new public toilets just 500 paces west (350metres) away with a café with seating and ice
cream/drinks/snacks kiosk too. The hut is 70 metres to a water tap, shower, bins and recycling.
The brand new lifeguard station is here too and a ‘safe swim zone’ between the flags.
An 8-minute stroll to the east is the Pier with public toilets (6 mins), amusements, crazy golf,
aviary, arcade, tourist information, food outlets, bars and restaurants. From the pier, there is a short
walk through the beautiful lower gardens to the town centre.
Inside the beach hut the kitchen area includes a gas double stove, water canister, kettle and pans. In
addition to cutlery and crockery, all kitchen utensils, mugs, wine glasses, tumblers and plastic cups
for children are provided alongside a coffee pot, tea bags, sugar and coffee.
There are two recliner sun loungers, two camping chairs, two folding stools, a picnic rug,
windbreak+mallet and a table. In the bench seat box are also some beach games; a frisbee, bat &
ball, bucket & spade and one bodyboard. BBQs are permitted on the beach after 6pm (not
supplied). Plenty of cleaning products are supplied; washing up bowls, detergent, cloths, draining
rack, broom, dustpan etc and a large council bin is not far along the prom.
Dogs are allowed on the beach from October - April only. There is a ceiling lantern (battery) for
use in the evenings (but no overnight stays by order of the council).
Be aware that this hut is a ‘roof and deck’ style of hut that requires some reaching up and a little
upper body strength to open and close.
