Duck Egg (NO. 102), Old Hunstanton Beach

I can see from a previous review that I should have known the outcome of my booking with the owner. Under no circumstances would I recommend this beach hut due to the downright shoddy organisation skills of the owner. We booked with the owner and turned up to collect the keys from the key safe only to find no keys were stored. Having attempted to call the owner, she replied on text saying she couldn’t talk currently then directed me to her brother in the house. The poor man was obviously confused about the situation and called his sister (who answered him) and following this conversation told me she would call. After a ten minute wait outside her brother’s house, I called her and she told me she had no idea what had happened and directed me to go to the beach hut and check who was there. I made my way to the beach and upon arrival with my 4 year old son and dog, I received a text message that she had double booked. It was suggested that she would give me a discount for another day, but I would not trust her ability to manage the diary on the beach hut. Her attempt to evade calls from me to discuss what was happening upon arrival to collect the keys was a tad ridiculous. 1 out of 5.

Although the beach hut was lovely , the setting nice and we had a lovely week, weather gorgeous (September 2016) the owner sadly let us down! We wanted to book it for the following year and we actually met the owner as she visited whilst we were there and she saw no problem with that.On returning from our stay in got in touch with owner to rebook, but I was told she would have to check with her daughter, I waited for confirmation that I could hire the beach hut, no reply so I booked another one (which was gorgeous) I had to keep asking for my deposit back, took about 2 months to receive Such a shame because it was lovely

This is one of those rare treasures that you want to keep a secret, but it is so lovely that you just have to review with the highest of recommendations! Beautifully fitted out with a typically English vintage feel that was so calming and relaxing. Perfect for either a day reading and lazing in pretty and relaxing surroundings or a family get together with a wonderfully sheltered area for children to play safely. Very close to the main beach but far enough away for a little private haven to relax or play. Quite simply "Perfect"

Duck Egg Beach Hut was dirty and shabby in June 2020. The unit tops were sticky and filthy; the throws and furniture were unclean and the curtain under the sink was mouldy. There were also water stains on the ceiling & walls. We were very disappointed having paid £70. On the plus side it was well equipped; it has a sand dune directly outside and the deposit was returned promptly. When we complained we got just a £10 refund! Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hut to my friends.

We really enjoyed hiring the hut. Its beautiful and in a perfect location. The car park and toilets are very nearby and the beach just over the sand dune. The hut is HUGE and beautifully decorated and perfectly equipped with everything you need for a long day at the beach. The instructions giving were very easy to understand and the key collection was contactless, perfect for the current climate. I would very happily hire this hut again for any family day out at Hunstanton beach.

It was lovely to return to Duck Egg this year for a few days. We have rented this beach hut over many years and we still love it. Rita the owner is always very accommodating and very pleasant. The hut still looks lovely with all the items you need for a great day at the beach..wish the weather was as good! Our deposit was returned without any issues. We would definitely and have recommended this hut to our friends. We will be back later in the year.

We had a fabulous time in 'Duck Egg' everything you need for a day at the beach, short walk from the beach and facilities, equipped with all necessary items. Nice and clean.Booking very easy would recommend.
